Make it a Moment: Happy Hour with Girlfriends
I’m all about celebrating everyday moments and finding ways to make them special- hence make it a moment! There’s so many ways to do this and you don’t have to make it extravagant.
I was chatting with some girlfriends this morning and we decided to get together for happy hour at my house tonight. Typically spur of the moment plans are tough to pull off with kids and I was excited to lean into the moment since it worked with all of our schedules. I always turn to my hosting essentials so when plans come up at the last minute, I can easily pull something together. Here are some no-fail tips to help!
I always have paper appetizer plates and cocktail napkins. This makes it easy to host without having to worry about dishes.
I also have go-to appetizers I turn to that are easy to pull together and require no cooking. Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board, veggies with dip, and a little sweet treat? For the charcuterie board, grab 3 of your favorite cheeses and assemble with a mix of grapes, olives, crackers and nuts. Perfect for happy hour with girlfriends paired with a veggie tray, your favorite candy, and drink of choice!
I love making my friends and family feel special when they come over. Even with last minute plans, there are simple ways to do this. One of my favorites are to make small goodie bags. I like to pick 3 little treats, add them to a clear goodie bag (which I keep on hand) and tie with a bow. It always adds a special touch, without a lot of effort. This time, I chose a seasonal jam i saw at the grocery store, a chocolate turkey and milk chocolate malted milk balls from our local candy shop. MKE gals, if you’re a chocolate lover Winkie’s has the best milk chocolate malted milk balls, trust me! I used the extras for the goodie bags after setting some out in a small dessert bowl. I was already out and about this morning, so it didn’t add any extra effort. If you don’t have time to grab something, no worries! There are other ways to make your guests feel special, try lighting a seasonal candle for a cozy vibe or fresh flowers are always a great option.
