Soccer Birthday Party

My son is soccer obsessed and wanted a Euros soccer tournament themed birthday party this year. He loves making brackets and chose 4 European teams, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain. Each team had 4 kids and 1 coach. I ordered t-shirts for each team (kids and coaches) instead of goodie bags, I promise this is a big hit with the kids! I also ordered name tags and drew a little flag for the teams as a special touch.

For the location, I highly recommend checking with a local school to see if they rent out their gym. We had his party at our local elementary school and it was a perfect spot, a contained space, cost effective, and we didn’t have to worry about the weather. We brought 2 small soccer nets for the games and the school had tables and chairs setup for cake.

Since we had 4 teams, Italy and France played first and the kids on Germany and Spain had fun cheering on the sidelines with snacks. The teams then switched so everyone had a chance to play and take a break. We had the winners from each round play in the championship game and then the other two teams played so everyone got to play 2 games. We kept each game to about 15 minutes, with a short half time break. After the tournament, each kid got a mini trophy and everyone was ready for cake.

To tie in the theme, I found a European flag banner and my son made a big bracket that we hung in the gym. I ordered soccer themed plates, napkins, cups, and cupcakes. I also had balloons to represent the colors of each team flag. The party was a success and he had the best time celebrating with his friends!

If you’re interested in a Euros soccer party, here’s what we used. Swap out the tees for your favorite teams!
