Ballerina Birthday Party
Growing up, I had several ballerina birthday parties and they were always my favorite. My mom had our babysitter, who was a dancer, teach my friends and me the ballet positions. We all wore tutus and it will always be a core memory for me. One year we had it at my grandparents’ house and I’ll never forget leaping down their circle driveway.
Flash forward, my daughter is a ballet lover too and I recreated my ballerina birthday parties for her 5th birthday. We lucked out and one of our babysitters is also a dancer, so we had her and a friend choreograph a dance to teach the girls. All of the girls wore their ballet leotards and we had tutus and crowns for everyone. We also made streamer wands that the girls loved. They were so simple to make, just get streamers and tape them to popsicle sticks. I promise they’ll be a hit! After the girls learned the dance, they put on the cutest performance for my mom, sister, and me.
The girls worked up an appetite after all the dancing and were ready for cupcakes. I find it easier to serve cupcakes with a group of kids and topped them with sprinkles and ballerina cupcake toppers to tie in the theme. Keeping the kids busy after cake can be challenging, so I had personalized ballet coloring sheets as an activity which the girls loved.
We of course decorated with lots of ballerina pink! Meri Meri is my go-to brand for birthday party decor and when I’m planning a party theme, I always check what they have first. Their products are adorable and great for tying in a theme. Shop the items we used for my daughter’s ballerina birthday party below.
